When did you start playing Chess? Why?
My older cousin Steen taught me to play chess when I was 5 years old. My cousin thought I would like chess because I was really good at puzzles.
How old were you when you first beat your parent?
I beat my dad when I was 5 years old.
What is your most memorable game?
My most memorable game was in the final round at the K-3 Colorado State Chess Championships when I beat a very tough opponent on board 1 to win a share of the State Championship.
What is your favorite piece? Why?
My favorite piece is the knight because I have won many games with knight forks.
Is your favorite part of the game opening, middle game, or endgame?
My favorite part of the game is the middle game because that’s when the tactics usually come in to play.
Are you more of an aggressive or defensive chess player? Explain.
I like to attack as much as possible.
What is your favorite chess memory?
I went 8-0 at the Fort Collins Chessmates Summer Camp in a field of over 40 students when I was 7 years old.
What is your goal for your chess in the next year or two years?
To go to the Girls World Championships and hoist a giant trophy over my head.
What is your favorite chess book?
My favorite chess book is The Batsford Book of Chess Records by Yakov Damsky that Brad Lundstrom gave to my Dad.
How do you think chess most helps you in day to day life?
Chess helps me to solve problems, and to stay focused.
What do you enjoy besides chess?
When I’m not playing chess I like to do activity books, play piano, read Nancy Drew books and play tennis.
